Home-made Face-food Recipe: Your Kitchen Contains The Best Cleanser, Scrub, Mask and Toner

If you are like me and love natural remedies then try this DIY home-made scrub + cleanser + mask + toner recipe. Every time I've applied these ingredients (I love that I can call them that, as apposed to "products"!) to my face I saw a remarkable difference in the texture and radiance of my skin. It also calmed any angry spots which was a very welcomed development.

Benefit of Honey, Yogurt and Oatmeal

The oatmeal is a natural exfoliant and emollient that will help you to unblock pores and gently remove dead skin cells. The yogurt is a mild astringent and helps reduce the size of pores. It is a natural moisturiser and contains lactic acid which will help you achieve soft and supple skin. The honey assists in absorbing and retaining moisture so will give you well hydrated kin. The darker the honey, the stronger the antioxidant effects which may assist with sun damage and help keep wrinkles at bay.Mild acne may also benefit from the honey due to antimicrobial action.

(Bare in mind that if you have severe acne, you shouldn't irritate your spots by rubbing them with a rough face-scrub.)

Ingredients

  • Honey
  • Natural /Organic Plain Yoghurt
  • Raw Brown Sugar (or white, if you must)
  • Oatmeal
  • Rosewater

Directions

  1. Cleanser: Mix 2 tsp of Yogurt with 1 tsp of Honey and apply to the face, rubbing in a circular motion-do so for 1 minute or so. Rinse off.
  2. Scrub:  2tsp of Honey with 1 tsp of Brown Sugar. Gently rub, remembering the crease of your nose and the chin. Rinse off.
  3. Mask: Add 1 tsp of Yogurt, 1 tsp of Honey and 1 tsp of Oatmeal (adjust to get the consistency you wish). Apply to your face and leave for 15-20 minutes. Wipe off using wet muslin cloth then rinse face gently.
  4. Toner: Dab a generous amount of rosewater onto a cotton pad and dab on to the face.
Give it a try! I would love to know if it worked for you or if you have any face-food recipes of your own to share!
